Wood paneled interiors always express a warmth and depth that can never be achieved through paint. Although a bit costlier than other wall décor elements wood panels are more eco-friendly if you chose varieties such as bamboo.
Wood panels come in a host of colors, types and textures. More and more people have begun to choose wood panels recently due to a number of noteworthy reasons.
First of all wood panels are long lasting and seldom fade or crack like paint is wont to. A daily cleaning routine along with a detailed varnishing program once a year is enough to keep them going for years.
Secondly wood panels are easy to install given their design details such as tongue and groove or V-shaped joints that ensure an airtight fit. Modern wood panels are treated and waterproof which is why they have become an added feature in most bathrooms and kitchens.

Paints & Color
Basements can be used for a variety of purposes and are especially ideal as recreational, family or laundry rooms.
Paint is the best way to add fun and vibrancy into these drab chambers depending on the purpose of the room. Choose paint colors on the basis of other elements of décor that will be used in this space. For family rooms that are going to be used for entertaining certain guests chose lighter shades of yellow, blue, green or beige and off white to add a feeling of space and light.
For laundry rooms its best to paint the walls in cheerful tones imbibing a feeling of the outdoors. Recreation rooms can on the other hand be decorated to look like home theatres for movie buffs or a gaming zone for kids in emphatic shades of red with black and white accents or blue and yellow as per the theme.

Design & Architecture,
Stairs
To create a balcony within your house you must have a room that has a two-story ceiling and must preferably be a living area.
Similarly this new architectural element must match the existing décor of your house to avoid a sore thumb situation. Choose the room where you want to carry out your plan and take appropriate measurements for the run and rise of the staircase from the floor to the landing that will become the overlooking balcony.
Select the form of stairs and placement for e.g. a traditional décor looks best with a curved stairway while a contemporary design calls for sleek straight lines. Next pick out the type of stair posts that will best match your décor and flooring options for the stairs.
Ensure that each design element complements the other while blending in with the whole and hire a professional or plan to complete the project yourself.

Wall Care
Travertine a form of limestone is being used as both floor and wall tiles regularly these days. It is porous in nature and textured on the surface yet extremely beautiful to add in almost any place in your home.
These tiles are usually installed with grout to act as a sealant between tiles. However it’s equally advisable to lay travertine tiles without grout for a traditional look.
To install grout less travertine wall tiles measure the wall from the very centre and work towards the corners for an even fit. Apply thin set mortar to the wall and the tile and press together until they are stuck. Clean out excess mortar from relevant sides and continue with the rest of the tiles checking for accuracy at regular intervals.
Once the wall is tiled apply a good quality sealant that will keep the tiles from staining easily especially in wet areas.

Roofing
Although daunting on first mention, roofing is pretty simple if you do not suffer from vertigo. Like all exterior projects you will have obtain a valid permit license and follow regulations set by local building authorities.
Start at the lowest point of the roof slope near the drip edge and work your way up in rows. Roll out your first felt row nailing it in at required places. Overlap the second layer a few inches onto the end of the first row to ensure a snug fit. Lay out shingles in a clever order nailing them every five inches along the way.
Overlap the first row slightly with the shingles forming a grid pattern to avoid any gaps or cracks. After you finish one side of the sloping roof, lay the ridge shingles again in an overlapping manner.
Approach the other side in the same way ending at the ridge.

Storage / Warehousing

Storage space is often wanted in any house and when you have none left within the house it makes sense to construct a shed for storage outside of the house.
The first thing in your to do list for constructing a storage structure should be to get a permit license. Select and clear the 30×40 space to begin work, planning for any water element at this stage itself.
Start your foundation wall ensuring it is two feet deeper than ground level. Lay out a metal grid for the floor areas have it filled with concrete and let dry. Put up framing allowing for doors and windows.
Place extra strong plywood of your choice on the roof and layer with tiles, shingles or other material. Build roof overhangs and add guttering.
Construct the walls making sure they match with your existing home. Insulate the whole properly and install doors and windows.
